THE NEWS   THE MUSIC   THE BAND   THE GIGS   THE REST

What has been going on:

21st May 2003

It's been a bit of a quiet month all in all, with half the band currently buried under stacks of books three, maybe four hundred feet high. While the remaining band memebers are rounding up a search party however (Hugh having gone to Russia to find the best people for the job) Dedicated is still available for sale in the shops. The single actually reached number 3 in the Tower Records, Road Records charts and is sitting pretty in Freebird and on the ThingsYou'reMissing stall. You can also buy it online at Road Records. Numerous radio stations have copies of it and have been kind enough to play it so feel free to request it on: Phantom 91.6FM, Spin103.8, Today FM, Galway Bay FM, WLR FM, NEAR FM 101.6, FM104 and more!

21st April 2003

Oooh-er, we haven't updated the old news section in quite some time obviously. Things you've missed then. The single launch in Temple Bar Music Centre on 19th March, an interview with NEAR FM on the 21st April. We'll tell you all about it when you're older ;-)

3rd February 2003

Free CD - If anyone who hasn't encountered us much before would like to catch up on past episodes, we've prepared a little Someday primer. It's called Previously on Someday - you can download the tracks in the Music section, or mail us at freecd@abandcalledsomeday.com with your postal address and we'll send one out to you. The first one's free... then, when you're hooked, we jack up the price...

28th January 2003

Enough of all this laurel-resting-on. We're returning to the live fray... you can catch us around Dublin on the dates mentioned above. We're delighted to be calling into Phantom on Saturday morning - tune in to see us make eejits of ourselves live on air! White Rabbit is a Trinity-based event that features djs, acoustic bands, visual displays and more. Tickets are available from the Trinity S.U. shop for a mere five euro each...
The single has been mastered and we're just finalising the details of the launch which'll be posted here as soon as they're... well... finalised. We're considering sending it to the Czech Republic for replicationing - always good to support local industry, eh?

7th January 2003

The compliments of the season to all. Now that we've mostly recovered from the New Year's festivities we'd like to keep you informed on what's going on. The single is currently in post-production stages and a March launch is looking likely. Gig-wise we're keeping quiet for the moment to allow our more studious members a little time to get their distractions out of the way.
We're overhauling the site over the next few weeks - we've replace the messageboard with a brand spanking new one where we can answer any complaints, queries or outright weirdness that you'd like to share. Coming soon we should have some more music from one of our recent gigs...

19th November 2002

We're directing our energies towards our upcoming recording in Solitaire Studios at the moment. The single we're going to record is Dedicated and the B-sides will be Eva and Rooftops in the rain. If anyone has any suggestions or feedback on any of these songs mail it to single@abandcalledsomeday.com. To raise some money for this we're having a party with plenty of bands and solo artists playing... I think we've asked about ten acts at the moment. Should be a blast! More details coming soon.

3rd October 2002
New pictures on site now! Just click on THE BAND section to see photos from Galway, Dublin, airports, beaches and Paris. Well actually, forget Paris, but the rest are here!

Hey kids, just to say a big thank you to everyone who turned out to see us play last night - we had an absolute blast. To those of you who couldn't make it, we'll be partaking in a night of similar frolics, supporting Alistair on the 17th. Be sure and drop by if you're in the neighbourhood.

In other news, we're still working on a new look for the site, which hopefully should be up and running in the next six weeks. If you've any requests or suggestions, just drop us a mail at makingtheworldabetterplace@abandcalledsomeday.com. We promise to read every mail at least twice... ;-)

15th September 2002
Greetings to one and all - Just a quick note to keep y'all informed on the 2002 Someday 'Shame about the weather' tour. We've had an absolut blast in Cork and Galway these past few weeks, and sad as we were to postpone the Belfast leg, we'll be in Derry on the 28th so it's all good. :-)
We're also pulling out all the stops for our homecoming gig in October as it's our 20th gig! So bring friends (bring their friends!) we're going to make this one a night to remember...

9th July 2002
Just the briefest of updates this week folks...
With Dave spending the remainder of our time without Daniel in Galway, gigs are a slight impossibility at the moment. :-) However, we're hoping to renovate the site somewhat over the next month or so. Future plans including the introduction of a photo gallery and an improved message board (!)

19th June 2002
With Daniel absent from Irish soil as of 7am this morning and Hugh jetting off to Paris in true rockstar fashion, Kathryn and Dave are planning to keep themselves warm this (wintery) summer by rubbing sticks together and playing acoustic gigs around the city. So for those of you who haven't been lured away from Dublin, be it by money or warmer weather, we'll be playing Viva on South William Street next Wednesday.

11th June 2002
We'd like to apologise for the (unwittingly) false advertising as it turns out that last night wasn't our final gig of the summer at all - we'll be playing Howl at the Moon on Lower Mount Street this Friday in association with 'Debasement' :-)

3rd June 2002
Phew! Nearly a month since the last update...
With the departure of our bass-player to warmer climes for the duration of the summer months, our gig in Doran's this Monday will be our last as a full band for quite some time. However, we're happy to say that the rest of the band will continue to play acoustic sets around the greater Dublin area in his absence, so it's not all bad.
In other news, Someday are now being played on Radio Na Liffe and hope for airplay on stations in both Galway and Cork before the end of the month. All this in preparation for our tour in late August... but more on that later... :-)

6th May 2002
Strawberries in summer is now being played on 91.6 Phantom FM! You can text your requests to their studio at 087-6195171.
Yes, after months of careful craftsmanship, our single is finally in the metaphorical shops. It's all you're going to be getting of Someday for the moment as work/study/exam/evil pressure is cutting into our gigging time. You can find some samples of the songs in the music section to keep you going. Those interested in buying their own full copy for a mere 3 euro can mail us at: showmethemoney@abandcalledsomeday.com.

13th April 2002
A major site update has occurred - new music on the music page, lyrics on the lyrics page and photos floating everywhere. And the band page is fully up to date, including alumni... We are delighted to announce that the rumours have coalesced and Someday cordially invite each and every one of you to attend our first headline gig in Voodoo on Sunday the 21st of this month. Admission is 6 Euro, or 5 Euro if you are on our mailing list, but you have to join before the gig! Support from the popular Redkid and the divine Ger O'Donoghue.

23rd March 2002
A big thank you to everyone who came out to support us last night, immense fun was had by all (of us in any case) :-)
Despite our original protestations that this would be our last gig til June, we're currently spreading rumors of another in mid-April... we'll post all information here just as soon as we know more. Til then, we hope to spend a little more time recording and have one or two more songs on the music page by the end of the month.

27th February 2002
It's Daniel's birthday!
Any of you who'd like to wish him a happy 22nd can sign his giant online card here.

13th February 2002
The first of our award-winning short films is now available on the videos page, in the music section. In a ground-breaking move we've opted to express ourselves in a three-frames-a-second medium. This work is entitled On Strike and features music from the song Fade with Day.

30th January 2002
BelfieldFM are playing Strawberries in Summer: Tune in to 97.3FM or visit their site for details.
New music available: A recording of Sugarcane from rehearsals is now available on the music page.
19th January 2002
Shane has decided to focus more of his time on his own band, Resonance, parting ways with Someday. A new drummer is in the works, however. Currently we are secretly initiating him into the ways of our Celtic Zen. In other news, the videos are on the way, along with some music. Just gotta work the bugs out but they should be uploaded here within the week.
12th December 2001
The message board has been given a thorough going-over to make it real purty. One could almost call it artistic, except it doesn't blink on and off...
29th November 2001
The full version of the website is now online. History, bios, links and, well everything are operational!
8th November 2001
Site has launched! Not everything is working yet, but there's some music and a couple of other bits floating around.
