A few words

THE NEWS   THE MUSIC   THE BAND   THE GIGS   THE REST

The heart of a poet, the soul of... well... a different poet, here are some of the lyrical outpourings from the word processor of the original Kathryn Williams:

Eva

Another poem-perfect,
cold-is-worth-it winter morning
As snow that walked up mountains
Crawled to lie down at my feet
And I thought I saw you move
Under the ice that had you falling down my way.

Water-logged from birth
and not a single drop worth pouring
I'm wondering if the salt
has come form you or from the sea
Cause a sky that's stuck
three shades of blue
is not the only thought
I've had today.

And what I saw before
In the grasslands where you were.
I saw form birds wings where I'd flown.
The fall broke me more than my bones.
Eva.

Dedicated

Cause what I said to floors
Of darkened halls that echo with a thousand faces
Seem big, speaking in the little.
And even dedications that I make
Are with words that I'll never use.

Fonder

Will absence of the outside world make my heart grow fonder?
Sitting at the desk of Eden I began to ponder.
Pausing for a moment as my mind began to go...
God knows my feet were wishing that my head could follow.

Slave to no ambition from a list-of-one selection
I wake up just in time to leave for bed.
The skeletons in my closet have more flesh than I affection
It's not about being solid but being lead.

Sitting in the latest punchline waiting for the whys.
Hoping for a memory or mention from my mind
when it arrived on a postcard in a hand so bold and clear
"It's a shame about the weather... only wish that you were here."

Slave to no ambition not quite open to correction
I'm wearing my heart and lungs on my sleeve.
I'd wear a warmer coat if I thought it could protect them
but it just makes it so very hard to breathe.

-------------------------------------

One hand clapping

Cause when you fly and I walk by
Watching is never what you claim
It's just like one hand clapping.

-------------------------------------

Strawberries in Summer

He said she said yours was mine
bu I'm just glad you came
Cause I need someone tall to watch my head

Reason won't work so I'll try rhyme
And one on one for fame
Cause I need you to know of all that's
That's underneath my bed

So did you know that I like
strawberries and sunshine with my summers?
And that I'll cross the street when in the shade?
And sometimes when I test new ground
I come up from down under
So if I bang my head it's just my way
No you needn't worry.

You said I said nothing much
But I'm just glad you heard
I nevr raise my voice in case I scream
Cause you have got the sweetest touch
And now this mind's a blur
I'm waiting for this next jolt to just
Just wake me from my dream.

-------------------------------------

Rooftops in the rain

I've been laughing in your face again
And I've been laughing in your place again
Cause I've been standing on this rooftop in the rain
